On April 28, 2004, Airport Operations staff in conjunction with the Contra Costa County Consolidated Fire District, the Contra Costa County Sheriff's office, and American Medical Response conducted an emergency drill. The drill is required by the Federal Aviation Administration every three years to maintain the Airport's current Part 139 operating certificate. runway 19 Right. A transit bus was used in place of an actual aircraft .
Some of the drill's objectives were to respond to the crash in a timely manner, assess and rescue any and all passengers onboard the aircraft, and to effectively coordinate with other County organizations during an emergency situation. All players involved stated that this year's drill was one of the most successful yet.
