Please consider a community park along the property at Grayson Creek oxbow paralleling Marsh Drive, across from the mobile home parks. |

I lived in Martinez for more than 20 years and recently moved to Brentwood. I am very interested in proper development/expansion/modernization of both the Concord and Byron airports. Both are very underdeveloped and underutilized assets of the county. I believe these assets could and should be used to their full potential generating local jobs and revenues for our local community. With the proper plan these facilities could attract business to the area which would provide employment and enhance the property values for all in the area. With the proper plan the Byron airport could be used as an alternate feeder system to the Bay Area, Stockton, and Modesto thus attracting commerce away from the currently congested Oakland and San Francisco areas. The plan being developed should create an infrastructure designed to support job creation which would in turn provide revenues back to the community. Private sector involvement/partnering will be essential to securing the level of improvement needed to escalate the facilities to the level needed to attract future development and jobs for local residents. |

During Tuesday night's meeting, many supporters of airport expansion seemed to be pointing out that the residents choose to live near an airport and shouldn't complain. I'd like it noted that I have lived in the area for 8 years and the noise was not a problem 8 years ago. The noise has gotten significantly worse within the last 2-3 years, especially on weekend mornings. It's my understanding that the number of planes flying out of the airport has not increased (please correct me if I am wrong). So, I'd request that part of the airport studies include determining what has caused this significant increase in noise and provide suggestions for how this can be prevented from getting worse. I live in Hidden Lakes and am curious why flyers were not mailed to local residents or stuffed in their mailboxes. The Master Plan fliers that were handed out at the meeting were very good. Mailing them to local residents would increase both participation in and understanding of the planning process. |

I attended the October 11 meeting and was impressed by the presentation, the meeting materials and the consultants' knowledge. However, when it came time for public comment, the meeting became "us (pilots) against them (homeowners)" instead of discussing the alternatives presented by the consultants. In my opinion, the consultants had valid observations and recommendations for the Airport:
(1) I agree that, by enhancing the all weather capabilities of the airport through realignment
and/or GPS approaches from 32R, 1R would be a benefit to the Airport.
(2) Relocating the fire fighting equipment will increase response time.
(3) Building new hangers will meet the already apparent need from the based users.
(4) On the other hand, as much as I would like to see a terminal for all GA aircraft, it seems
that the way the Airport has been split to the East and West precludes this.
As it is now, all charter/jet traffic is based on the West. GA is on the East. Restaurants and accommodations are on the East . Fed Ex on the West and that is about it. Looking at a successful GA airport like Santa Barbara, the FBO and terminal are located in close proximity. This means that the terminal and FBO are successful by catering to transient GA and charter traffic. Given the existing layout at Concord, I am not sure that an upgraded terminal will attract the charter/jet traffic needed to sustain its operation. |

I live in Walnut Creek and would like to offer my opinion as to what to do with my tax dollars at Buchanan Field Airport:
(1) bring one or two commercial airlines for local travelers;
(2) bring a transport (UPS or like) airline for local/package/mail delivery;
(3) build a firestation on the Airport.
During the 1989 Earthquake, Concord's Buchanan Field Airport was the only airport operating with flights able to land which I know because I was on that first flight that was able to land in the Bay Area. |

I would like the Master Plan to leave a place for a monorail station as it's growing system across the country to provide transportation. It may take the form of light rail or a system that rides on top of a K-type rail which is extremely versatile; able to be reconfigured / expanded easily and inexpensively. |

I live in the Pleasant Hill area and the quiet enjoyment of my backyard is ruined by the landings and takeoffs of jet aircraft using Buchanan Field in the morning and late afernoon. I do not mind the small aircraft but am opposed to increasing jet traffic. An increase in jet traffic would have a very negative effect on housing values in Pleasant Hill. Oakland Airport is easy to get to and use and I feel that commercial and/or private jet aircraft should use that facility. The area surrounding Buchanan Field Airport should not be sacrificed so very wealthy business people could save a little time and avoid the drive to Oakland. Please do not allow more jet use at this airport. |

I am a Pleasant Hill resident and have noticed many changes at Buchanan Field Airport, especially in the touch and go flight training. Noise and congestion are high on my list of concerns for future airport plans. Traffic is so congested on Concord Ave. now that I avoid that route to Concord when possible. The fly-overs at my house are so loud at times that they drown out the sound of my television. I consider this to be an invasion of my privacy now and hope more flights are not being considered. I'm sure other communities in the country have had the same problems as our airport has now and hope that you have investigated what solution they have incorporated to make a plan work for their public. |
